Customer drove in with his 03 ranger complaining about the check guages light and no o/p gauge.
Walked out to the truck,started it up and noticed a slight ticking noise from one of the lifters. Ok into the shop we go.
In the shop first things first lets check the oil level mummm no oil on the dipstick. Two and a half quarts later fired it up still no gauge reading. The emmisions tech told me there's a puddle under the truck.

On the way home we had alot of people slow down by the car trailer and taking alook at "Opie". Alot of the older gentlemen on the way waved and made the thumbs up sign. LOL!
At lunch time my husband and I stopped at the Whata Burger in Pelham and was greeted by the manager and another gentleman at the door. The manager owns Opels and wanted to talk about mine.
The manger started asking queastions about the car to my husband and my husband informed the manager that the car was mine and that he could ask me the queastions. The manager look confused and continued to ask the hubby. This very funny to me but my husband was alittle uncomfortable about trying to answer queations about a car he does not know to much about. HE is a Chevy man. LMAO! :lmao:

A very long time ago I had tuned a gt, twin carbed, mild cam and was challenged by a 911 Porche, he highbeemed me and I took him to the cleaners. I know it was my driving skills, or his lack of, but I was impressed. This will not be my dream car, I own it (69 bmw 2800cs), but that one will take more space than I have at present. Case in point I was tring to use circle track methods to figure out the final drive ratio needed for drag racing.
Wroung I forgot that I'm shifting gears there by changing the multiplier.

The 205/60/13 tire is 72 inches in circ. with a dia. of 22.4

A few weeks ago one of the spectators and his son asked quite a few questions about Opels and GT's in particular. He originally came from Portugal where he use to race Opels and he had a keen interest in getting back into Opels and his son, not quite 16 yet was overly enthused about any car. Anyway, they kept coming back to the various cruise nights around the area and would spend hours talking to me.

When he found out that I had two (2) GT's and only could show one at a time he asked if it would be OK for him to drive one of them to the local shows. Of course I said yes.

He really fell for the 71 because it has a manual 4 speed and is quite peppy.

He started asking what I thought the car was worth and I kept changing the subject.

After about 3 shows he said he wanted to buy it and wanted to know what I wanted for it. I gave him my price and he did not pass out. He said he would think about it.

He volunteered to drive to another show where I let his son wipe down both cars. When the show was over, he wanted to stop by his house and show the car to his wife.

She would be a very tough nut to crack.

Now for my thoughts....

After seeing his domicile I began to have second thoughts about selling the car.
For One thing, he has a two car garage and he has a car and his wife has a car. I don't think the Opel would kick one of their cars out in the weather.
For the second thing, I believe the Opel would be come a daily driver for the son when he gets into high school. I feel the car is an antique and should have minimum mileage put on it.


After or during the next show I will have to tell them that I am not comfortable selling the car to them.

Let's see what the next show brings.
